The Meijer Tour Katke Cousins Stop won by Brandon Barrows

Brandon Barrows Wins at Katke Cousins

The recent fall stop at Katke Cousins saw both familiar faces and some new players at the top of the leader board. Brandon Barrows of Lake Orion won the one day event with a four over par score of 76. Barrows had a wild day and his three birdies were peppered with  five bogeys and a double bogey to reach his final score. His one shot win was over Tyler Lewis of Ortonville and Marcus Robinson of Rochester. Nikolas Senkowski of Rochester Hills finished two strokes back. Perhaps Barrows key shot occurred on the new number 11 as he hit it into the deep rough and needed two wacks to free his ball where his second shot rested to within ten feet of the pin and he saved bogey.
With the high school girls holding tryouts this week in preparation of their fall season starting later this month, the girls age 13 to 15 division was won by emerging player Veronica Haque of Rochester Hills. She carded a four over 76 to win by two strokes over Allyson Geer of Brighton and Jami Laude of Ann Arbor. The boys 13 to 15 age group was won by Justin Kapke of Canton. Kapke also had an up and down day and carded three birdies and a handful of bogeys and two double bogeys on the day. Brendon Graham of Clarkston and Matthew Jacobs of West Bloomfield finished tied for second two strokes back. Matt Kelley of Novi shot 82 and was three strokes off the lead.
