Many area courses have tournaments but Kensington Metro Park (KMP) has tournaments for every golfer. Located in Milford just off of I-96 on Kensington Road, KMP has casual competition for every type of golfer. The Women’s Tournament is this upcoming Monday, June 11th. All golfers entering must have a USGA handicap and can be established by submitting at least five scores and paying a nominal handicap fee. The entry fee is $29 and includes tournament fee, greens fee and lunch. The cart is an additional $11 for those that want to ride. Divisions will be divided by seniors under 62 and those age 62 and older. The shotgun start is at 8am and check in time is no later than 7:30am. Entries close on Thursday. I am sorry about the late notice but I just found out.

Also on the schedule is a Men’s Senior, Super Senior and Golden Senior Tournament. It takes place on July 9th.

Carl’s Golfland and Metroparks Boys and Girls Junior Tournaments will take place on Monday,  July 16th at Kensington and the following day at Stony Creek Golf Course. Separate applications are due for each tournament and the age divisions will be under 12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18. The entry fee is $26 for juniors 13-18 years-old and the fee drops to $18 for those age 12 and younger. Parents are encouraged to attend and there is a walking fee for those that due.

The Parent Child Tournament will take place on Saturday, August 18th at KMP. Each player tees their shot and then plays the opposite ball and then plays the best ball. Parents and children alternate their shot after that. The cost for the tournament is $74 for the team and this includes cart, greens fees and prizes. The shotgun start is at 8 am and check in time is by 7:30 am.

Entries are online. While the competition is casual check with the course for skins, longest drive prizes and so on. Rainout dates are designated for all tournaments.

The final tournament is the Men’s Tournament and a qualifying tournament will be on the weekend of  August 4th and 5th and those making the Championship Tournament will occur on Sunday, August 26th. The greens fee is $32 plus the handicap fee. There will be a shotgun start for the men’s final.

Kensington is a low scoring track for golfers that hit it long and can hit their irons close. Putting is very difficult if you hit the ball on the wrong place on the green.
