Talia Campbell and Bailey Truesdell lead after Day 2 at Warwick Hills AJGA Event

At the Randy Wise Ford AJGA tournament at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc... round two is considered to be moving day and some of the best junior female players from across the United States are within ten strokes of becoming medalist. After round one... ten golfers had medal scores in the 70's and nine are within six shots of the lead paced by Elizabeth Bernabe from Anaheim Hills California who shot a one over par 73 after eighteen holes of golf and Talia Campbell of Dallas, Texas only one shot off the lead. Local golfers are back in the pack including Rosalie Shyu who put together a 79... six shots off the pace. Bernabe made par on number nine with a testy putt. She shot  77 on the day and now trails the new leader Talia Campbell. Campbell made par on the par three 144 yard 11th and her round of 72 gave her a four shot lead after 36 holes.  The Michigan bound Rosalie Shyu of Rochester Hills, Michigan put together a solid round of 77 and is now  ten strokes behind the leaders. Aya Johnson of Muskegon Mona Shores HS is a junior this year already attracing college scouts and strung together a round of  83 for a two day total of  163 with two prep season of her prep golfing career remaining. Local golfer Kelly Feng... a senior at Troy High had a bump in the road with an opening 85 but rebounded to a 79. Feng was very happy not to have any big numbers and was especially proud of birdying the 17th and 18th holes.

Sarah Dilts of Birmingham had an opening round of 91 but her par on 14 helped her rebound to an 86 for an improvement of five strokes . Her playing partner Macy Hudson of Bloomfield Hills also looked to rebound from a 93 and her par playing alongside Dilts  helped her achieve an 87 but is still well behind the leaders. The new leader is Talia Campbell and she  has four strokes to ice the field going into the final day of the tournament. Elizabeth Bernabe of Anaheim Hills, California led after round one but will have to play catch-up if she is to become the winner of the AJGA Randy Wise Open.  Bernabe  is still within striking distance as she is in a two way tie with Muni Lili He of Rancho Sante Fe, California.  In all... eight golfers had medal scores in the 70's on the very windy at Warwick Hills and seven  are within ten shots of the lead. The tournament runs at Warwick Hills through Thursday and the admission is free.

By Roy J. (Joe)Akers Day 2 (Boys)
At the Randy Wise Ford AJGA tournament at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, Henry Do of Ypsilanti has no problem being a front runner as he is the defending champion of the Randy Wise open and leads after day one shooting a 72. His one shot lead over Francesco Ruffino of Bloomfield Hills and Reed Hrynewich of Muskegon are only one shot behind posting first day 73's. Day two is when the pack starts to separate and Max Kollin's solid tee shot on the par three eighth left him leaving with a par as he posts a 74 and finished with a 149... five shots behind the leader. Beau Titsworth of Avon Lake Ohio, is tied for 5th after day one carding a 74 and his par on the third kept the momentum as he added a 76 and is 150... six shots off the lead.  Marcus Robinson and Brandon Barrows will both golf for Rochester Adams next spring and they earned pars on the 16th. Barrows will become a freshman this fall and his 83 left him with a two day total of 166 going into the final day... giving him experience but well off the lead. A pair of Patrick's played the first two days together. Patrick Luther of Novi earned a par on the par three 17th but his 85 put him back in the pack.  Bailey Truesdell of Grand Blanc trumped him rolling in a birdie and he carded a 71 but would it be good enough to overtake Henry Do?
Henry Do was consistent in his scoring was consistent after 36 holes. After his opening round 72... he played steady and earned pars at two and three and shot a one over 73 on the day. His 145 is now good for second place in the tournament but only one shot behind Truesdall for medalist honors. Francesco Ruffino is tied for third with a 146 after carding a second round 73. Blaze Hogan of Big Rapids, Michigan had the early best score of the day at 71 and is only four strokes off the two day lead. "Today I made some putts," said Hogan. I missed some short putts for par but I made a lot of birdie putts. I actually was three under at one point but a couple of bogeys in the end and a couple of long putts for par at the end to save my round for a 71," said Hogan.
In all. 27 golfers shot scores in the 70's down from 36 but the winds blew hard at Warwick Hills and 15 golfers  are within three shots of the lead. Francesco. Round two of the tournament begins tomorrow and this three day tournament concludes on Thursday. Online videos with highlights and interviews are on M I PrepZone.
