First Round Leaders of the the AJGA in Warwick Hills

     At the Randy Wise Ford AJGA tournament at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, some of the best junior male players are playing for the prestige of winning against some of the best scratch competition in the Midwest. Oakland County is well represented with 42  of the 72 golfers making up the field including defending champion Henry Do of Ypsilanti. Max Kollin of Farmington Hills is the State Medalist in Division one and admits the competition is much tougher in the American Junior Golf Association than local  tournaments. and shot a three over par 75. "We will have to shoot a pretty low number or something and maybe in the sixties or very low seventies to get back into it but anything can happen out here,"  said Kollin. Kollin was not prophetic on this day as he is one of more than a baker's dozen within three shots of the leader, Henry Do of Ypsilanti. Francesco Ruffino had a rollercoaster round but he was jubilant rolling in six birdie putts but had a triple bogey and a few other shots he wanted back. "If you do not hit it in the fairway, it can be a long day, said Ruffino. I was all over everywhere. I had six birdies today, a triple and four bogeys," said Ruffino. It was very up and down. On eighteen, I hit one (shot) right handed, added the left handed junior from Birmingham Seaholm.   Henry Do, the defending Champion from Ypsilanti, Michigan is the leader with an even par 72.  While Warwick Hills is no longer a PGA Tour stop The shot of the day belonged to Adam Decker of Ada, Michigan. He aced the 190 yard 11th hole and despite the hole- in- one, he shot a five over 77. In all. 36 golfers shot scores in the 70's and 15 golfers  are within three shots of the lead. Francesco.
