Steve Williams Steals the Show

PGA Tour Confidential
Steve Williams tells Adam Scott What the Real Key to Sunday's Victory Comes From.

At first I was happy to hear that Steve Williams helped a player taste victory as Adam Scott won for the eighth time in his PGA Tour career. But sideshow Steve stole the show with his comments that stole the bubbly from the champions trophy Sunday.
Steve Williams attributed Sunday at the Bridgestone Invitational to destiny. This was the first tournament for Tiger Woods in three months because of his injured left leg, and Woods' first tournament since he fired Williams as his caddie after 12 years as his professional sidekick. Williams got all 'down under' and cut loose on his former boss after keeping quiet publicly for nearly 19 months after the self-imposed dust cloud that follows Tiger around.
What made Scott's victory extra sweet for Williams is while his client won the tournament, the man he used to caddy for finished in a tie for 37th, 18 shots behind Steve Williams and Adam Who. Williams earned 10% of Scott's 1.5 million dollar winners check and was almost three times what Tiger earned finishing as an also ran during the event.  When most caddies are seen and not heard, you can sound the trumpets by reading on. "I've caddied for 33 years - 145 wins now - and that's the best win I've ever had," Williams told CBS Sports on the 18th green. Let's see, Steve Williams spent12 years working for Woods  and was on the bag for 13 majors and 16 world titles among 72 wins worldwide. That includes the 2001 Masters, when Woods won an unprecedented fourth straight major.
I can see Williams being upset at being cut loose after keeping his mouth shut for all those years when he knew Tiger was playing rock star as a married man and followed the code until last month when he spouted like a more than ready over boiled teapot. Steve has had his 15 minutes of fame and while Scott might like Williams taking some pressure off of him for a tournament or two by yapping, there is only room for one PGA player in a caddie/player relationship and Williams best bet he is not the sheriff. If I was Williams I would not blow this gig because PGA Players are taking notes and if he loses this bag, he might have to hold up a sandwich board sign at future tour events until he learns his lesson. So the huge ego of Williams needs to be kept in check because right now he seems to be carrying two golf bags. One for Adam Scott and one for his own ego.
