Oakland County Prep Coaches name their top prep Players

   Before naming the results of the coaches team, the next blog entries will include course reviews of the Orchards in Washington Township and Sylvan Glenn in Troy.

Now for the poll.

At the recent Boys Prep Golf County Golf Championships, I asked the golf coaches at the course meeting to answer the following questions. This informal poll is certainly not scientific as only a handful responded.

This poll was completed before the results of the day where Max Kollum won the individual medal and Oakland Christian won the team award for lowest score.  I gave three points for first place, two for second and one point for third place but this did not really matter as the top players would have won with any point system.

Despite Oakland Christian winning the tournament with a three shot win over North Farmington, Brother Rice is the coaches choice as best team in the county. They were named first on every ballot. Detroit Catholic Central is second and Oakland Christian was in a two way tie for third with Lake Orion. North Farmington was only mentioned on one ballot.

The best driver of the golf ball is Nick Williams and Nick Dennis.

The best iron player is a tie between Charlie Green and Francisco Ruffino.

The best short game belongs to Seaholm’s Francisco Ruffino.

Graham Cenko has the best touch as the counties best putter.

The best overall game which basically translated to best player belongs to Nick Dennis and Francisco Ruffino.

The top player in the county according to the coaches are Ruffino, Dennis and Sean Friel.

Once again, I had many unreturned ballots but this gives you a sense of how the coaches feel are the best players. This also should give you a glimpse to who will make the all county team as the coaches vote on the award.
