County crowns Oakland Christian and Max Kollin

Oakland County has crowned its 2011 Team and Individual Champions and Oakland Christian and Max Kollin are the big winners. The weather was nasty and rainy but on this day, the wet course proved to be an advantage for those who could drive it long and play target golf and those that did it best stood on top of the leader board. Last week, I spoke to Randy 'Doc' Johnson and his team in their victory over Plymouth Christian and Royal Oak Shrine. They used their consistency on their Bald Mountain home course to prepare for today and to see where they stood in their victories over those squads. I have posted the interview in MiPrepZone on (5/17) and his words proved to be like his doctorate designation.... Grandmaster of Prophetics. Here is his team minus Zac Preuss.
I was there courtesy of LSB and will post two recap storieson MiPrepZone after they are edited on Wednesday evening. Respond to them please.

Max Kollin of North Farmington was spectacular in the two holes I watched him enroute to a 68. Yes you heard that right. Kollin birdied the 232 yard 16th which has been voted the counties most difficult par three hole on public courses in the past in the Oakland Press. He also was about 10 feet from a hole-in-one on number 17. Max, you wave your irons around like magic wands. You put a summers worth of good golf in the two holes I watched you. Way to go.

I have a poll from the coaches that will appear over the weekend.

High School Coaches and Golfers...Let's ramp up the Oakland Press Coverage of Golf

Here is a call out high school coaches and players. I would love to give your players and teams some video coverage this spring and do a video story on a match or a feature story on your team or an individual player or prep golf issue, I’m your huckleberry. The stories will appear in the MiPrepZone part of the online newspaper and in this blog. Nothing would please me more than to arrange this ahead of time. You can call me Roy J. (Joe) Akers direct at 248-238-4449. I want to hear your story ideas and if you would like coverage of a match, contact me and we can arrange some coverage.
