At Birmingham Invitational... Catholic Central outlasts Plymouth, Lakeland and Brother Rice

Birmingham Seaholm's yearly invitational at Birmingham Country Club turned into the third straight win for a Detroit area golf power. Detroit Catholic Central has already won two tournaments including Indianwood earlier this month and no one seems to have an answer on how to beat this loaded team. Paced by Charlie Green's (MSU) 2 under 70 including a chip-in birdie at number 7 and this senior was backed by teammates that carded scores no worse than 78.

Plenty of teams were nipping at the heals of the Shamrocks. Lakeland is paced by a trio of juniors that pack a pretty strong punch. Alex Kleckner's (71), Justin Pahl's 74 and Jake Kneen's 75 gave the Eagles three of the four scores in the 70's to finish at 297, six strokes behind DCC.

The low medalist honors for the tournament went to a player that went real low. Kyle Rodes of Plymouth put together a round of 68 and this was enough to carve out a two shot win over Green.

Brother Rice had huge graduation losses and it showed. Kyle Gaines played to an even par 72 and Jeremy ball finished with a 75. The high school golf tournament season is here and with the Azure Dynamics event held at Oakland Hills on Monday. The Oakland County Tournament is Wednesday, May 15th.

Central boasted a team full of players who shot in the 70's. Glen Piot and Corey Szmadzinski put together rounds of 72. No one for CC had a posted round of greater than 78.
