Like the Prodigal Son who goes away and comes back unexpectedly, Lake Orion's Tom Gillis has come back from the dead to take a 36 hole share of the lead at the Honda Classic. The 43-year-old Gillis shot 68-64 and is tied with England's Justin Rose at the half way point of the tournament. Rory McElroy is lurking only one shot behind them. The former Oakland Community College golfer better plan on going low on moving day. Brian Harmon shot 61 and it may take a low round for Gillis to hold off those lurking just behind him. For the record, Gillis now resides in Jupiter Florida to work on his game year round.
The Michigan Golf Show is being held this weekend to be held at the Suburban Collection Showplace located on Grand River in Novi. Great prices on clubs, leagues and other equipment items are out there as well as simulators and ranges to try before you buy. Check out the show from Friday 2pm till 8pm, Saturday 9am till 7pm and Sunday 10am till 5pm. This is the last show of the year locally.
