Maxwell Moldovan extends his lead at AJGA at Forest Lake and Mikaela Schultz of Bloomfield Hills is tied

     After more than twenty boys shot par or better at Forest Lake Country club paced by Maxwell Moldovan of Uniontown, Ohio who had a nine under 62 on day one. It looked like a near perfect day on day two would add to the golfers shot totals. Well, Moldovan proved he is a force to be reckoned with as he added a six birdie round netting him a 67. This two-time AJGA champion sits at 13-under par 129 after day two of the 54 hold tournament.  it looked like more low scores would be posted by players at Forest Lake Country Club located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This course is not easy. Rolling hills and forced carry shots dot the course and a penal amount of trees ruin golfers aspirations with obstructed shots for players who do not drive it straight. So why the low scores? A 6,200 yard course meets select players that drive it more than 300 yards in the air and training regimens that are tailored to players that make Gumby look like a concrete statue. Defending champion Cade Breitenstine of  Akron, Ohio sits just two strokes back after totaling 65-66 and sits just two strokes behind Moldovan. Breitenstine aced  the par three 10th on day one and his irons are deadly accurate. With only five players within eight strokes of Moldovan, it looks like it comes down to just five players. The top Michigan born player  Patrick Sullivan of Grosse Pointe, Michigan sits at 2-under 140 after 36 holes and has signed a letter of intent to University of Michigan.

     For the girls, Forest Lake is not the scoring haven it has turned out to be for the boys. For Mikaela Schultz, day two was moving day as she carded a two-under 69. This future Michigan Wolverine put together a bogey-free front nine and three birdies sparked her to a two way tie for second with first round leader Aleandra Swayne of Mainesville, Ohio (Clemson University commit) who also sits at even par after 36 holes (70-72). Swayne is a previous winner on the AJGA circuit winning at Penn State and her nine top-ten finishes on the AJGA circuit will be a tough two way battle with Schultz for the finish of this 54 hole tournament.  Three other girls are within seven strokes of the leaders and Taylor Kehoe of Strathroy, Ontario slipped to a 74 and sits two shots off the lead. Miss Michigan golfer Anika Dy is lurking five shots behind (73-74) and Celine Niu of Newport Beach, California is seven shots back (76-73) going into the final day.

College coaches littered the course during the first two days. Coaches from Illinois, Minnesota, Adrian, Hillsdale, Michigan, South Florida, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Cleveland State, Toledo and Xaviar are looking at various members of the 96 players that were scheduled to start play this week. 


Plenty of videos of golfers and college coaches will be in day three and postcript coverage from the tournament. 
The third AJGA stop this summer will occur at Spring Meadows Country Club located in Linden August 13th through the 16th. This tournament was formerly held at Warwick Hills which is prepping for the Ally Challenge PGA Legends Tour stop in September.
