A pair of Ohio Players lead the boys and girls at the AJGA All-Stars at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield

In a case of 'how low can you go? Maxwell Moldovan fired 9 birdies and a nine-under-par 62 at the AJGA All-Star classic at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Moldovan is no stranger to shooting great scores. Moldovan has already won twice in AJGA tournaments and has racked up seven top-ten AJGA performances in his junior career. Forest Lake Country Club is no easy track and for Moldovan, he holds the course record and he is only a  high school sophmore.

Plenty of golfers played to par or under in round one.  Twenty- two juniors are at or under par after 18 holes on the boys side including Cade Breitenstine of Akron, Ohio. As the 2017 defending champion, put together a round of 6-under par 65 and is three shots behind Moldovan. Michigander Patrick Sullivan of Grosse Pointe Farms whose 4-under 67 would look great at many AJGA tournaments and has him lurking with 36 holes to play at five back.

While the boys were off to a blistering start, the girls found two players sharing the lead at one under par 70. Alexandra Swayne of Maineville, Ohio put together a round of six birdies and this Clemson University Intent, won the 2017 Junior at Penn State. Her nine top-ten AJGA finishes serves notice that her time at Forest Lake will give her another potential notch on her belt. Still, she is tied with Taylor Kehoe of Strathroy, Ontario who played a bogey free round at Forest Lake. Her nine top-ten AJGA tournament finishes will give this 14-year-old player a strong shot at Swayne.

For the girls, seven players are within five shots of the lead including top Michigan players Mikaela Schulz of West Bloomfield (Michigan commit) who fired a two-over-par 73 and attends Bloomfield High School which is just a few miles from the tournament site. Anika Dye of Traverse City is a Michigan Miss Golf and is tied for third with Schulz. The 54 hold tournament concludes on Thursday.
Pictures and Interviews start on Wednesday.
