MEN'S GOLF: Oakland's Nick Cunningham named Summit League Golfer of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. — Oakland's Nick Cunningham earned the Summit League Male Golfer of the Week for finishing in the top-20 at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate, announced the league office on Wednesday.

Cunningham, a senior, collects his first career league weekly award after he fired a 54-hole score of 221 (71-75-75) to finish in a tie for 16th place at 5-over-par. He had a stroke average of 73.7 and his first round score of 71 was tied for the team-low at the tournament.

The Golden Grizzlies will be in action next on April 6-7 as they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the NYX Hoosier Invitational at the IU Golf Course.

Not everyone can play golf at the Country Club of Detroit or get free clubs and upgrades. Almost all of the golfers learn the game from instruction, greens fees and get great role models.
