For the first time in nearly two decades, the United States Golf Association is bringing an important championship to Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich. The 2012 U.S. Senior Open will be played on the Old Course at Indianwood from July 9-15, and you are invited to go behind the scenes as a championship volunteer.
Volunteers will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the 33rd U.S. Senior Open, with some 2,500 positions available on more than 25 championship committees. Adults and youths ages 13-17 are eligible, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more and to begin the application process, click here.
Indianwood's Old Course, which opened in 1925, previously hosted the 1989 and 1994 U.S. Women's Opens, won by Betsy King and Patty Sheehan, respectively. The club, which is located about 30 miles north of Detroit, also hosted the 1930 Western Open, won by Gene Sarazen. All three champions are members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
This will be the 31st USGA championship and the third U.S. Senior Open to be held in the state of Michigan. Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills hosted the U.S. Senior Open in 1981 and 1991. Olin Browne won the 2011 U.S. Senior Open at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
